Ivan Savvidi has met with the Ambassador of Greece in Russia Danai Magdalini Kumanaku

The main theme of the meeting became an aid to the compatriots living in south-eastern Ukraine.

In the course of negotiations that took place in friendly atmosphere, different aspects of interaction between Russian and Greece were discussed. According to Ivan Savvidi the most critical problem is that of aid to Greeks who live on the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The Ambassador was informed about support to the compatriots within powers of the Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of Russian Greeks. Being in tight situation and facing danger everyday many of them want to go to Greece for a time. Taking into consideration that the only safe route goes through Russia, during the meeting was discussed the possibility of temporary service of Greeks from south-eastern Ukraine in Consulate-General in Novorossiysk.

Ms Kumanaku expressed her understanding of current situation and promised to lend support to solution to this question.

All relevant letters were sent to the Ministry of International Affairs of Greece and Consulate-General in Novorossiysk.
