All-Russian Youth Festival of Greek Culture «Krymskij mayak» took place in Crimea

The festival was organized by the Federal National- Cultural Autonomy of Russian Greeks supported by Charitable Foundation of Ivan Savvidi.

Ivan Savvidi mentioned in his opening speech that this project shouldn’t be faced with time constraints of Russia-Greece cross year. «Such a festival can become a good tradition and illustrate unique history of the Crimea, and extend by participation of young people of all nations and nationalities, which live here. Strengthening of national unity is one of the most important tasks for Russian people today. It is impossible without knowing variety of cultural traditions of Russian nations and promotion of peaceful coexistence of different ethnos in one state», - he said.

Hundreds of young Greek representatives, dozens of creative teams of Greek social organizations from throughout Russia took part in concert, devoted to Russian-Greek friendship. Also there were a lot of interesting events in the frameworks of the festival.

On 7th of May was arranged meeting of young people with Russian parliamentarians in the format of panel discussion.

On 8th of May participants of the festival visited Greek village Laki, which was burned by fascist invaders in 1942. In church of Luke the Evangelist reconstructed by Ivan Savvidi was held memorial service.

On Victory Day festival participants took part in the Immortal Regiment march. Greeks held portraits of their fathers and grandfathers, heroes of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, heroes of the Soviet Union.
