Ivan Savvidi took part in events of 23rd Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in Greece

The Inaugural Ceremony was held in Thessaloniki on 4th of July.

One of the most important events was round-table discussion of historical-cultural aspects of bilateral relations between Russia and Greece.

During his speech the speaker of Russian State Duma Mr. Sergey Narishkin, who chairs Russian delegation, proposed to enhance the translation of Greek and Russian literature and exchange of best practices between professors to extend cooperation in educational and scientific spheres between Russia and Greece.

«Present Russia-Greece cross-year lets us to multiply our academic contacts. Russian language and culture department was founded in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the support of Russian entrepreneurs, such projects can be bilateral. I will propose our Crimean colleagues to think over new joint projects, academic exchange»,-he said.

Two-day official visit of Russian delegation implies the pilgrimage journey to Mount Athos and opening of the exhibition of photographs and prints «Athos. Sacred Mountain».

Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, consisting of 27 countries, was founded in 1993. Russia entered the Assembly in 1994.
